Speak It is designed to keep what you say on your iPhone. We do not operate a server that stores your thoughts.
No account required
Speak It does not require a profile, email address, or sign-in. Optional profile fields stay on your device and are not sent to Speak It.
Your library
Thoughts, tasks, memories, places, and preferences are stored on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync, supported library data is copied to your private Apple iCloud container and protected by Apple. Speak It does not have access to that container. Place coordinates and place reminders are not included in iCloud Sync.
Recordings and speech recognition
During voice capture, a protected recovery recording may be stored temporarily on your device. It is deleted after a successful save; interrupted recordings can be retried or deleted from Capture history. Speak It never uploads these recordings to its own servers.
Transcription uses Apple's Speech framework. Depending on the device, language, and Apple's service availability, Apple may process audio over an internet connection under Apple's privacy policy.
Reminders, places, and Apple Maps
Notification and location access are requested only when a feature needs them. Place reminders use iOS region monitoring; Speak It does not record a location history or transmit your coordinates to analytics. Address search and reverse geocoding send the lookup to Apple Maps.
Content-free analytics
If analytics is enabled, Speak It sends limited product events such as a capture being saved, a task being completed, or a subscription screen being viewed. Events use a random installation identifier. Location lookup and person profiles are disabled.
Analytics never includes recordings, transcripts, task titles, memory text, names, email addresses, search terms, place names, or coordinates. You can disable analytics at any time in Account & Settings. Analytics is processed by PostHog in the United States.
Purchases
Apple handles subscriptions and offer-code redemption. Speak It never receives your payment-card or bank details. The app receives Apple-signed entitlement information so it can unlock Pro.

If you choose to use the referral program, the app creates a random referral identifier and credential. Speak It's referral service stores that identifier, referral codes, Apple transaction identifiers and status, product and offer identifiers, and a reward ledger. It uses this information only to verify a real App Store redemption, issue the promised Apple-backed reward, restore program state, and prevent self-referral, replay, or duplicate rewards.
The referral service does not receive your thoughts, recordings, tasks, memories, profile fields, contacts, places, or analytics events. Referral credentials are protected in Keychain, one-time Apple codes are encrypted on the server, and transaction signatures are verified using Apple's official App Store Server Library.
Retention and deletion
Your on-device library remains until you delete it in the app or remove the app. Analytics retention is governed by the configured PostHog project. Referral and reward records are kept while the program operates and as reasonably needed to restore rewards, prevent duplicate claims, meet accounting obligations, and resolve support requests.
You can request deletion of referral data by emailing support@speakitapp.ca. We may retain the minimum transaction or anti-fraud record required to prevent a deleted identity from claiming the same reward again.
Tracking and advertising
Speak It does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, sell personal data, use advertising SDKs, or share data with data brokers.
Children and changes
Speak It is not directed to children under 13. If this policy changes materially, the updated version and effective date will be posted on this page.
